How To Unclog A Bathroom Sink Drain

A clogged bathroom sink drain is a common household problem that can be easily fixed with a few simple tools and materials. If you're experiencing slow drainage or standing water in your sink, don't despair! Here's a step-by-step guide on how to unclog a bathroom sink drain:

1. Gather Your Tools and Materials

Plunger

Drain snake

Baking soda

Vinegar

Bucket or bowl

Wrench (optional)

2. Remove the Stopper

Most bathroom sinks have a rubber or metal stopper that can be easily removed by hand. Simply lift the stopper out of the drain hole.

3. Try Plunging

The first step in unclogging a drain is to try plunging. Fill the sink with a few inches of water and place the plunger over the drain hole. Push and pull the plunger vigorously for 10-15 seconds. If the clog is minor, this should be enough to dislodge it.

4. Use a Drain Snake

If plunging doesn't work, the next step is to use a drain snake. A drain snake is a long, flexible tool that can be inserted into the drain and used to hook and remove clogs. To use a drain snake, simply insert the end of the snake into the drain hole and turn the handle to feed it down the drain. Once you feel resistance, pull the snake back and forth to hook the clog. Once the clog is hooked, pull the snake back out of the drain, bringing the clog with it.

5. Try Baking Soda and Vinegar

If plunging and using a drain snake don't work, you can try using baking soda and vinegar to unclog the drain. To do this, pour 1/2 cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by 1/2 cup of vinegar. Let the mixture sit for 15-30 minutes, then flush the drain with hot water.
