How to Remove a Bathroom Faucet

Replacing a bathroom faucet is a relatively simple plumbing project that can be completed in a few hours. Before you start, gather the necessary tools and materials. You will need a basin wrench, adjustable wrench, plumber's putty, Teflon tape, and a new faucet.

Once you have gathered your tools and materials, follow these steps to remove your old bathroom faucet:

Turn off the water supply to the faucet. There will be two shut-off valves under the sink, one for the hot water and one for the cold water. Turn both valves clockwise to turn off the water.
Disconnect the water supply lines from the faucet. Use the basin wrench to loosen the nuts that connect the water supply lines to the faucet. Be careful not to overtighten the nuts, as you could damage the lines.

Tighten the mounting nuts. Use the adjustable wrench to tighten the mounting nuts until they are snug. Do not overtighten the nuts, as you could damage the faucet.
Connect the water supply lines to the faucet. Use the basin wrench to tighten the nuts that connect the water supply lines to the faucet. Be careful not to overtighten the nuts, as you could damage the lines.
Turn on the water supply to the faucet. Open the shut-off valves under the sink to turn on the water. Check for leaks around the base of the faucet and the water supply lines.
