How To Reframe A Bathroom Mirror

Mirrors are an essential part of any bathroom, providing both functionality and style. However, over time, mirror frames can become outdated or damaged, making the mirror look less than its best. Reframing a bathroom mirror is a relatively simple and inexpensive way to update the look of your bathroom without having to replace the entire mirror. Here are the steps on how to reframe a bathroom mirror:

Materials you'll need:

  • New mirror frame
  • Measuring tape or ruler
  • Level
  • Screwdriver
  • Mirror adhesive
  • Caulk gun
  • Caulk

Instructions:

  1. Remove the old mirror frame. Start by removing the old mirror frame from the mirror. This can usually be done by unscrewing the screws that hold the frame in place. If the frame is glued on, you may need to use a putty knife to carefully pry it off.
  2. Clean the mirror. Once the old frame is removed, clean the mirror thoroughly with glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth. This will remove any dirt or debris that could interfere with the adhesion of the new frame.
  3. Measure the mirror. Use a measuring tape or ruler to measure the width and height of the mirror. This will help you determine the size of the new frame you need.
  4. Choose a new mirror frame. With the measurements of the mirror in hand, you can now choose a new mirror frame. There are many different styles of mirror frames available, so take your time to find one that matches the style of your bathroom.
  5. Attach the new mirror frame. Once you have chosen a new mirror frame, it's time to attach it to the mirror. Apply a thin bead of mirror adhesive to the back of the frame, and then carefully place the frame over the mirror. Use a level to make sure that the frame is straight, and then press firmly on the frame to secure it in place.
  6. Caulk around the frame. Once the frame is attached, caulk around the edges to seal any gaps and prevent moisture from getting behind the frame. Use a caulk gun to apply a thin bead of caulk around the perimeter of the frame, and then smooth it out with your finger.
  7. Allow 24 hours for the adhesive and caulk to dry completely. Once the caulk is applied, allow it to dry completely for 24 hours before using the mirror.

Reframing a bathroom mirror is a relatively simple and inexpensive way to update the look of your bathroom. By following these steps, you can easily give your bathroom a fresh new look.
