How To Install A New Bathroom Vanity

Installing a new bathroom vanity is a great way to update the look of your bathroom and add storage space. It's a project that can be completed in a weekend with a little planning and preparation.

Tools and Materials You'll Need

* New bathroom vanity * Level * Screwdriver * Drill * Plumber's putty * Caulk gun and caulk * Adjustable wrench * Utility knife

Step 1: Remove the old vanity

* Turn off the water supply to the bathroom. * Disconnect the water supply lines from the old vanity. * Remove the drainpipe from the old vanity. * Disconnect the electrical wires from the old vanity (if applicable). * Remove the screws that hold the old vanity in place. * Carefully lift the old vanity off the floor and out of the bathroom.

Step 2: Install the new vanity

* Place the new vanity in the desired location. * Use a level to make sure the vanity is level from front to back and side to side. * Secure the vanity to the floor by driving screws through the predrilled holes in the vanity's base. * Reconnect the water supply lines to the new vanity. * Reconnect the drainpipe to the new vanity. * Connect the electrical wires to the new vanity (if applicable).

Step 3: Install the sink

* Apply a bead of plumber's putty around the rim of the sink. * Place the sink on the vanity and press down firmly. * Tighten the nuts on the underside of the sink to secure it in place. * Reconnect the water supply lines to the sink. * Reconnect the drainpipe to the sink.

Step 4: Install the backsplash

* Apply a bead of caulk around the edges of the backsplash. * Place the backsplash on the wall and press down firmly. * Use a caulk gun to fill in any gaps between the backsplash and the wall.
