How To Fix Leaky Faucet In Bathroom

Step 1: Turn Off the Water Supply

Before you begin working on the faucet, you need to turn off the water supply. There will be two shut-off valves under the sink. One valve will be for the hot water and one will be for the cold water. Turn both valves clockwise to turn off the water supply.

Step 2: Remove the Aerator

The aerator is the small, screen-like device on the end of the faucet. It helps to aerate the water and create a more forceful stream. To remove the aerator, use a wrench to loosen the retaining nut. Once the nut is loose, you can unscrew the aerator by hand.

Step 3: Remove the Handle

Once the aerator is removed, you can remove the handle. There will be a small screw on the side of the handle. Use a screwdriver to remove the screw. Once the screw is removed, you can pull the handle straight up to remove it.

Step 4: Remove the Cartridge

The cartridge is the part of the faucet that controls the flow of water. To remove the cartridge, use a wrench to loosen the retaining nut. Once the nut is loose, you can pull the cartridge straight up to remove it.

Step 5: Inspect the Cartridge

Once the cartridge is removed, you can inspect it for damage. If the cartridge is damaged, it will need to be replaced. You can purchase a replacement cartridge at a hardware store or online.

Step 6: Reassemble the Faucet

To reassemble the faucet, simply reverse the steps that you took to disassemble it. First, insert the new cartridge into the faucet body. Then, tighten the retaining nut. Next, reattach the handle. Finally, reattach the aerator.

Step 7: Turn On the Water Supply

Once the faucet is reassembled, you can turn the water supply back on. Check for leaks and make sure that the faucet is working properly.
