How to Change a Bathroom Faucet

Materials you will need:

New bathroom faucet
Wrench
Adjustable pliers
Phillips screwdriver
Flathead screwdriver
Plumber's putty
Teflon tape

Steps:

Turn off the water supply to the faucet. There will be two shut-off valves under the sink, one for the hot water and one for the cold water. Turn both valves clockwise until they are completely closed.
Open the faucet to release any remaining water in the lines.
Disconnect the water supply lines from the faucet. Use a wrench to loosen the nuts that connect the lines to the faucet. Once the nuts are loose, you can disconnect the lines by hand.
Remove the old faucet. There are usually two or three nuts that hold the faucet in place. Use a wrench to loosen the nuts and remove the faucet. If the nuts are difficult to remove, you can use adjustable pliers to get a better grip.
Clean the sink around the faucet hole. Remove any old plumber's putty or Teflon tape. Use a cloth and some cleaner to wipe down the area around the faucet hole.
Apply plumber's putty to the base of the new faucet. Roll out a small piece of plumber's putty and form it into a ring. Place the ring of putty around the base of the faucet.
Insert the new faucet into the faucet hole. Make sure that the putty is evenly distributed around the base of the faucet. Tighten the nuts that hold the faucet in place. Do not overtighten the nuts.
Reconnect the water supply lines to the faucet. Use a wrench to tighten the nuts that connect the lines to the faucet. Make sure that the nuts are tight enough to prevent leaks, but do not overtighten them.
Turn on the water supply to the faucet. Check for leaks around the base of the faucet and the water supply lines. If there are any leaks, tighten the nuts until the leaks stop.
