Materials you'll need:
- Pop-up drain assembly
- Adjustable wrench
- Plumber's putty
- Bucket or basin
- Rags
Step 1: Prepare the work area.
Turn off the water supply to the sink by closing the valves under the sink or turning off the main water shut-off valve.
Open the faucet to release any remaining water.
Place a bucket or basin under the drain to catch any water that may leak out.
Cover the drain with a rag to prevent small parts from falling into the drain.
Step 2: Remove the old drain.
Using an adjustable wrench, loosen the nut that secures the old drain to the sink.
Carefully remove the drain from the sink.
Clean the mating surfaces of the sink and the old drain with a rag.
