How to Install a Bathroom Cabinet and Sink

Installing a bathroom cabinet and sink is a relatively simple project that can be completed in a few hours. However, it is important to follow the steps carefully to ensure proper installation. Here are the steps on how to install a bathroom cabinet and sink:

Materials Needed:

  • Bathroom cabinet
  • Sink
  • Faucet
  • P-trap
  • Supply lines
  • Screws
  • Level
  • Measuring tape
  • Drill
  • Screwdriver
  • Wrench
  • Plumber's putty

Step 1: Prepare the Cabinet

Start by assembling the bathroom cabinet according to the manufacturer's instructions. Once the cabinet is assembled, place it in the desired location and mark the wall where the mounting holes will be.

Step 2: Mount the Cabinet

Drill pilot holes at the marked locations and insert the screws to mount the cabinet to the wall. Use a level to ensure that the cabinet is level.

Step 3: Install the Sink

Apply a bead of plumber's putty to the rim of the sink. Place the sink on the cabinet and press down firmly to create a seal. Tighten the mounting bolts to secure the sink to the cabinet.

Step 4: Install the Faucet

Insert the faucet into the holes in the sink. Place a washer and a nut on each side of the faucet and tighten them with a wrench.

Step 5: Connect the P-trap

Connect the P-trap to the drainpipe under the sink. Use a wrench to tighten the nuts on the P-trap.

Step 6: Connect the Supply Lines

Connect the supply lines to the faucet and the P-trap. Use a wrench to tighten the nuts on the supply lines.

Step 7: Test the Installation

Turn on the water supply and check for leaks. If there are any leaks, tighten the nuts on the supply lines or the P-trap until the leak stops.

Step 8: Finish the Installation

Caulk around the edges of the sink to prevent water from seeping into the cabinet. Allow the caulk to dry completely before using the sink.

Tips:

  • If you are not comfortable installing the bathroom cabinet and sink yourself, it is best to hire a professional plumber.
  • Make sure to turn off the water supply before starting the installation.
  • Use a level to ensure that the cabinet and sink are level.
  • Tighten all nuts and bolts securely, but do not overtighten them.
  • Test the installation thoroughly before using the sink.
