Kohler Bathroom Faucet Cartridge Replacement

A Kohler bathroom faucet cartridge replacement is a relatively simple task that can be completed in a few steps. The cartridge is a small, cylindrical device that controls the flow of water and temperature. Over time, cartridges can become worn or damaged, leading to leaks or a decrease in water pressure. Replacing the cartridge is a quick and easy way to restore your faucet to its proper working condition.

Before you begin, you will need the following tools:

  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Adjustable wrench
  • New Kohler bathroom faucet cartridge

Step 1: Turn off the water supply.

Locate the water supply valves beneath the sink and turn them off. This will prevent water from flowing out of the faucet when you remove the cartridge.

Step 2: Remove the aerator.

The aerator is the small, mesh screen that is attached to the end of the faucet. Use a pair of pliers to unscrew the aerator and set it aside.

Step 3: Remove the handle.

Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the handle. There may be a small set screw that needs to be removed first. Once the handle is removed, you will see the cartridge.

Step 4: Remove the cartridge.

Use an adjustable wrench to loosen the cartridge. Be careful not to damage the cartridge or the faucet. Once the cartridge is loose, you can pull it out of the faucet.

Step 5: Install the new cartridge.

Insert the new cartridge into the faucet. Make sure that the cartridge is properly seated and that the O-rings are in place. Tighten the cartridge using an adjustable wrench.

Step 6: Reinstall the handle.

Place the handle back on the faucet and tighten the set screw. If there is no set screw, simply tighten the handle by hand.

Step 7: Reinstall the aerator.

Screw the aerator back onto the end of the faucet. Turn on the water supply and check for leaks. If there are any leaks, tighten the cartridge or the aerator until the leaks stop.

Your Kohler bathroom faucet is now repaired and ready to use.
