How To Snake A Bathroom Sink

A clogged bathroom sink is a common plumbing problem that can be easily fixed with a few simple tools. If you have a plunger and a drain snake, you can usually clear the clog yourself in just a few minutes.

Remove the drain stopper.

If your sink has a drain stopper, remove it by pulling it up or unscrewing it.

Insert the drain snake into the drain.

Feed the drain snake into the drain hole until it reaches the clog. You may need to use a flashlight to see inside the drain.

Turn the crank on the drain snake.

The crank will rotate the snake and help it to break up the clog. Continue cranking until you feel the clog break loose.

Pull the drain snake out of the drain.

Once the clog is broken loose, pull the drain snake out of the drain. The clog should come out with the snake.

Flush the drain with hot water.

Run hot water down the drain for a few minutes to flush out any remaining debris.

If you don't have a drain snake, you can try using a plunger to clear the clog. To use a plunger, place the plunger over the drain hole and push and pull on the plunger handle several times. The suction created by the plunger will help to break up the clog.

If you can't clear the clog yourself, you may need to call a plumber. A plumber will have the tools and experience to clear even the most stubborn clogs.
